Mr. Cuppy grew up in Minnesota and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Minnesota State University Mankato in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science and Ambulance Administration. He is currently the Senior Paramedic for HealthEast Ambulance Service and Field Training Officer for Century College. Michael has developed and implemented several computerized statistical database systems for HealthEast Ambulance Service and several other services in the Twin Cities. He has also served as Vice Chairman for the Dakota County Medical Advisory Group. After recovering from Hepatitis C he contracted from a bloody IV needle stick sustained while treating a critically ill heart patient in the ambulance, Michael set out to design an IV catheter that would save lives by reducing needle-stick exposure AND blood borne pathogen exposure while also improving other safety features for IV cannulation. His invention was recently licensed to Advantage Medical Devices and will soon be released as the VantageCath. Michael lives with his wife and two children in Minnesota. His oldest child is a freshman in college. His hobbies include golf, coaching, building wooden scale model sailing ships, basketball and softball. |
